EPIC Online Parent Meet Up
Back Parents. Back Youth Mental Health
Thursday 23 July, 7.30pm
We have heard enough. Now we are acting.
Join us online for a community conversation about the Back Parents. Back Youth Mental Health campaign.
Five years of conversations with parents has brought us to this moment.
Parents struggling to send their young person to school only to have them suspended for not attending class. Parents bringing their child home from hospital after a psychotic episode with no training, no support, and no idea what comes next. Parents navigating systems that were built to help and finding doors closed at every turn.
Enough.
You told us what peer support means to you. 100% of engaged members felt less alone, more confident and more hopeful. 60% reached out for support earlier. 98% believe every parent in Australia deserves this.
The Australian Senate agreed. In 2023 it recommended the Government fund a national peer parent support network. Three years on, nothing has changed.
So we are changing it ourselves.
Back Parents. Back Youth Mental Health is EPIC's campaign calling on the Australian Government to fund peer parent support as permanent national infrastructure. Funded. National. Permanent.
And we want you in the room when we launch it.
What we will cover
What you told us. We will share the full survey findings with the community that made them possible.
What we are doing about it. The campaign, the petition, the political outreach, and how you can be part of it.
What comes next. One simple action you can take before you go to sleep that night.
This meetup is for you if...
You are a parent or carer navigating a young person's mental health challenges and or risky/life threatening behaviouir. You have been part of the EPIC community. You work alongside families and want to understand what peer parent support can achieve. You believe parents belong in the room as part of the solution.
Check out the campaign and complete the survey here.
